What is Magnesium bis-glycinate and where does it come from?
Magnesium is a naturally occurring mineral and is the fourth most abundant mineral in your body. Approximately 50 percent of the magnesium that exists in the body is found in bone tissue and about 1 percent is found in the blood. Magnesium bis-glycinate is involved in over 300 chemical reactions in the body, and while it is found in many common food sources, magnesium deficiency is common.
What does Magnesium Bis-glycinate do?
Magnesium bis-glycinate is a mineral that performs many functions within your body. It helps maintain proper muscle and nerve function, promotes a steady heartbeat, supports a healthy immune system, and plays a role in maintaining normal blood pressure and energy metabolism.
Due to its ability to support communication among the nervous system and other body systems, Magnesium bis-glycinate may also help improve mental functions including learning and memory.
As an amino acid chelate of magnesium, Magnesium bis-glycinate is highly bioavailable. Different than other forms of magnesium, the bisglycinate form is not dependent on stomach acid for absorption as it uses mechanisms similar to those used by amino acids.
Magnesium bis-glycinate does not produce loose stools as other types of magnesium tend to do.
